This Skill addresses the challenges of information overload, difficulty maintaining focus, and lack of deep comprehension when reading long documents. In practice, readers often face a flood of information when tackling papers, technical documentation, or books, leading to missed key concepts or weak understanding.

The usage is simple: you provide the document to Pi and control the reading pace using natural language commands. Use next or n to proceed to the next segment, skip to bypass the current segment, expand to delve deeper into the current content, summarize to review what has been read, and back to go back one segment. After finishing each chunk, it will prompt you to summarize it in your own words and checks your comprehension.

It is ideal for academic researchers, university students, and documentation engineers who need to closely study complex materials. This includes users who need to digest technical papers, industry reports, or textbooks section by section, as well as readers who wish to maintain reading continuity and easily resume their progress.

It is recommended to use this tool consistently for reading lengthy, information-dense content. Note that it primarily runs on the Pi platform, currently supports text-format documents, and has limited capability for processing non-textual content like images and tables.

Key Features

Unlike standard AI reading assistants, it presents content in segments aligned with the document's logical structure. After each segment, it enforces a comprehension check (requiring the user to summarize in their own words) and dynamically adjusts the chunk size based on user performance—reducing the chunk size if the user struggles or merging chunks if comprehension is easy, enabling an adaptive reading pace.

Limitations

Requires the Pi platform environment (pi.dev). Currently, it only supports plain text or Markdown documents, has limited support for complex layouts and images within PDFs, and depends on a network connection.

FAQ

What document formats are supported?

It supports textual content such as papers, articles, books, and technical documentation. Using Markdown or plain text format is recommended. PDFs need to be converted to text first.

How do I resume my last reading session?

The Skill automatically saves progress to a progress.json file and will continue from the last position upon the next launch.
