This skill addresses the challenge faced by video designers and motion graphics artists who need to manually write complex scripts to automate tasks in Adobe After Effects. In daily workflows, designers often need to batch-process layers, add animation effects, or organize projects—repetitive tasks that are time-consuming and error-prone. By describing requirements in natural language, AI can directly generate and execute the corresponding ExtendScript code, significantly boosting the efficiency of creative work.

Using it is straightforward: simply install this skill in a supported AI coding agent (like Claude Code) and ensure After Effects has script write permissions enabled. You can then use natural language instructions to describe the effect you want to achieve, such as "Add a drop shadow to all text layers and set them to Multiply mode." The AI will automatically generate the code and control After Effects to execute it. The entire process supports undo, with each operation wrapped in an undo group for safety.

It is ideal for teams or individuals who frequently use After Effects for video production, motion graphics design, and advertising creative work. Particularly for designers, video editors, and content creators who are familiar with After Effects operations but lack scripting programming skills, it allows them to focus more on creative ideation rather than technical implementation. For projects that require rapid production of promotional videos, text animations, or presentation materials, this skill can significantly shorten the production cycle.

It is recommended to use this tool consistently when starting a new AE project or when large-scale batch modifications are needed for an existing project. Note that it is primarily aimed at After Effects users on macOS; Windows support is still under development. Before use, be sure to enable the "Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network" option in AE preferences to ensure the skill functions properly.
