This Skill addresses the efficiency gap between scattered ideas and a finished article. In practice, many writers struggle with disorganized material collection, inconsistent style, and the mechanical feel of AI-generated content, leading to endless revisions that fail to meet expectations. This toolkit breaks down writing into four stages—Collection, Analysis, Creation, and Refinement—each supported by dedicated skills, making the writing process replicable and manageable.

Usage is straightforward: simply run npx skills add simonwong/writing-skills in your terminal to install. All skills share the ./writing-workspace/ data directory. We recommend starting by using style-extract to analyze 3–5 articles and build your primary style profile. Then, use material-ingest to accumulate a material library, followed by compose to draft content based on a topic or reference articles. Finally, use rewrite to polish the text and reduce AI artifacts, and title-gen to generate titles. The entire process can be driven by natural language commands, eliminating the need to switch between multiple tools.

It is ideal for content creators, social media managers, and marketing specialists who need to consistently produce high-quality Chinese content. This is especially useful for those who have accumulated a large volume of articles but lack a systematic way to organize them, or for teams aiming to maintain consistent personal style and avoid AI-generated traces. Academic researchers can also use material-ingest to extract key points from papers and compose to write literature reviews or academic articles.

After establishing your personal style profile, we recommend periodically using style-extract to analyze new articles and update your style library, ensuring your writing style stays current. Note that all skills rely on the local data directory; it is advisable to include the workspace in version control to prevent data loss. Additionally, while rewrite-en2zh excels at handling technical English content, literary translations may require manual adjustments.

Key Features

Unlike Grammarly or direct writing with ChatGPT, it emphasizes the deverbalization translation technique of 'understand first, then express,' and builds reusable style profiles and material libraries, creating a closed-loop process rather than a one-off output.

Limitations

Requires a Node.js environment and the `skills` CLI tool. All skills share the local `./writing-workspace/` directory and cannot be directly integrated into online editors or cloud services.
