This Skill addresses the lack of telephony capabilities in AI applications. Traditional phone API integration requires handling infrastructure such as SIP, Webhooks, and media streams, resulting in long development cycles and high maintenance costs. AgentLine.cloud provides a clean REST API that enables AI agents to make phone calls, receive SMS, manage phone numbers and agents directly, without the need to set up servers or deal with underlying protocols.

Usage is straightforward: simply enable this Skill in your AI coding assistant and configure the AGENTLINE_API_KEY environment variable. You can then use natural language commands to make calls, view SMS history, purchase phone numbers, manage agents, and more. Follow the documentation steps: first set up the API Key, create an Agent, select an area code to purchase a number, set voice preferences, and then start event polling to receive incoming calls and SMS. All interactions are handled via the API, with the AI automatically processing calls and returning transcripts.

It is ideal for developers who need to add phone functionality to their AI agents, especially teams building customer service bots, telemarketing systems, automated outbound notification systems, and similar scenarios. It is also suitable for individual developers looking to quickly integrate telephony into personal projects without deep telecommunications expertise. Whether for intelligent customer service, sales follow-ups, or verification code notifications, it can be rapidly implemented using natural language commands.

It is recommended to strictly follow the documentation steps during initial setup and not skip the event polling configuration, otherwise incoming calls and SMS will not be received. Note that it primarily supports Hosted Mode, where the AI autonomously handles calls and provides transcripts after the call ends. The system prompt is completely replaced for each call, and each call is independent. The prompt must contain the full context, as the AI has no memory across calls.

Key Features

Unlike traditional telephony APIs like Twilio, AgentLine is optimized directly for AI agents, eliminating the need to manage SIP trunks or Webhooks. It features a built-in AI voice conversation engine, supports dynamic system prompts and voice presets, and enables AI phone capabilities with one click, whereas Twilio requires building your own voice processing logic.

Limitations

Relies on the AgentLine cloud service and requires a valid API Key (starting with sk_live_); outbound calling requires an internet connection. Currently, only Hosted Mode is supported; custom media streams or real-time audio processing are not available.

FAQ

How do I get an AgentLine API Key?

Go to https://agentline.cloud to register or log in. You can obtain an API Key starting with sk_live_ from the console.

Does it support receiving incoming calls?

Yes, but you need to configure the Background Event Poller to listen for incoming calls and SMS; otherwise, they will not be received.
