name: resume-rewrite description: Rewrite, diagnose, and generate data engineering resume bullet points. Also matches resumes against job descriptions and generates interview prep questions. Use this skill when the user wants to improve, rewrite, or critique resume bullets, describe their work in plain language to generate bullets from scratch, compare their resume with a job posting, or prepare for interviews. Trigger on "帮我改简历", "帮我写简历", "rewrite my resume", "看看这个简历", "这条怎么改", "我不会写简历", "帮我看看这个JD", "我的简历match吗", "这个岗位合适吗", "帮我押题", "准备面试", "深挖简历", "interview prep", or any time the user pastes resume bullets, describes work experience casually, shares a job description, or asks for interview help.
Resume Rewrite Skill
Critiques and rewrites data engineering resume bullet points into achievement-oriented, HR-friendly, well-formatted English.

Core Philosophy
Resumes describe achievements, not responsibilities. The best bullet points have:
- A clear action (what you did)
- A method (how you did it, with recognizable tech keywords)
- A result (quantified impact)
- A business outcome (who benefited and how — e.g., "enabling leadership to make data-driven decisions", "reducing finance team's manual workload")
The business outcome is what separates a strong bullet from a merely technical one. Without it, the bullet reads like an engineering spec, not a resume.
How to handle missing business outcomes:
- In the 推荐写法 column: only fix what's actually broken (weak verbs, jargon, formatting, quantification). Stay close to the user's original wording — do not rewrite the entire bullet or invent business outcomes.
- In the 问题 column: flag it as "缺业务价值" and explain what's missing.
- In Step 4 (follow-up questions): ask the user to provide the business context, e.g., "这个数仓建好之后,业务团队具体怎么受益的?是减少了IT依赖?还是加快了决策速度?" Then incorporate the user's answer into the final version in Step 5.
Entry Routing
First, determine which mode to use based on user input:
| User Input | Mode |
|---|---|
| Pastes existing bullet points or a resume | Diagnose Mode → go to Diagnose Mode section below |
| Describes their work in plain language (大白话) | Raw Input Mode → go to Raw Input Mode section below |
| Provides a job description and wants to compare with resume | JD Match Mode → go to JD Match Mode section below |
| Asks for interview prep after finalization | Interview Prep Mode → load references/interview-prep.md |
Cues for Raw Input Mode: user writes in Chinese or casual English, no bullet format, describes work narratively (e.g., "我去年主要就是搞ETL" or "I basically built some dashboards for the sales team").
Cues for JD Match Mode: user pastes a job description/posting, or says things like "帮我看看这个JD", "我的简历match吗", "这个岗位合适吗", "compare my resume with this job".
Raw Input Mode (大白话 → Bullet Points)
When the user doesn't have written bullets and just describes what they did, follow this flow:
R1: Judge Granularity
Read what the user said and classify it:
| Granularity | Signal | Action |
|---|---|---|
(Single point) | User describes one specific task or project | → Generate 1 bullet, but first ask follow-up questions |
(Overview) | User describes a role or multiple responsibilities in one paragraph | → Identify and list each distinct thread, then tackle one at a time |
(Big project) | User describes a large initiative spanning months | → Propose splitting into 2-3 bullets by phase (design/build/result) |
R2: Identify Threads
For 概述 and 大项目 inputs, break down the user's description into distinct threads. Show the user:
"你说的内容我拆成了这几个方向,我们一个一个来:
- [数据仓库建设]
- [ETL pipeline开发]
Dashboard]
Let the user pick the order. Handle one thread at a time.
R3: Ask Follow-Up Questions (per thread)
For each thread, ask targeted questions to fill in the Action-Method-Result framework. Ask in Chinese, 2-3 questions at a time max. Don't interrogate — keep it conversational.
Essential info to extract:
| What | Example question |
|---|---|
Python?SQL?Airflow?" |
| Before vs after | "之前是怎么做的?你做了之后有什么变化?" |
| Numbers | "有没有大概的数字?快了多少?省了多少时间?" |
If the user says "不记得了" or gives vague answers, suggest reasonable placeholders:
- "那我先写 [X],你之后补?"
- "大概是几十万还是几百万的量级?我帮你估一个"
R4: Generate Draft Bullet + Diagnose
After collecting enough info, generate a draft bullet and immediately run it through the diagnostic table (same three-column format from Step 2). This way the user sees both the draft and its quality assessment at once:
| 草稿 (Draft) | 可改进 (Can Improve) | 优化版 (Optimized) |
|---|---|---|
| The draft bullet based on user's input | What could be stronger | Polished version with bolding and varied opener |
Discuss with user, then move to the next thread.
R5: Merge into Final Output
After all threads are done, compile all bullets into the final format (same as Step 5 in Diagnose Mode). Then proceed to Step 6 (offer interview prep).
JD Match Mode (简历 vs 岗位匹配)
When the user provides a job description and wants to see how their resume matches up. The user needs to have a resume ready (either already finalized in this conversation, or pasted/uploaded). If the user only provides a JD without a resume, ask them to share their resume first.
J1: Extract JD Requirements
Parse the job description and extract:
- Required skills/tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Airflow, AWS)
- Key responsibilities (e.g., "design and maintain data pipelines at scale")
- Nice-to-haves (e.g., "experience with streaming data is a plus")
- Soft skill signals (e.g., "cross-functional collaboration", "mentor junior engineers")
J2: Overall Match Report (整体匹配报告)
Output a keyword coverage table:
| 类别 | JD 要求 | 简历中是否体现 | 备注 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Required Skill | Python | ✅
| Required Skill | Kafka | ❌
| Nice-to-have | streaming data | ❌
| Soft skill | cross-functional | ✅
At the end, give a summary line:
"整体匹配度:X/Y 个核心要求命中,Z 个缺失。"
J3: Bullet-by-Bullet Alignment (逐条对照)
Map each resume bullet to JD requirements:
| 简历 Bullet | 对应 JD 要求 | 匹配评价 |
|---|---|---|
| "Architected an enterprise data warehouse..." | "Design and maintain large-scale data infrastructure" | ✅ 强匹配 — 但建议加 "at scale" 措辞靠近JD |
| "Delivered 30+ Power BI dashboards..." | "Build reporting solutions for stakeholders" | ✅ 匹配 — 可以强调 stakeholder impact |
| "Automated operational reporting..."
Flag bullets that don't align with any JD requirement — these are taking up space that could be used for more relevant experience.
J4: Action Plan (行动建议)
Summarize into three categories:
(Wording tweaks) — bullets that match but wording could be closer to JD language:
"第2条:JD说 'scalable pipelines',你写的是 'ETL pipelines',建议改成 'scalable ETL pipelines'"
2. 关键词补充 (Missing keywords to add) — keywords the JD requires that are absent from the resume:
"JD要求 Kafka 经验,你简历没提。你做过消息队列相关的吗?"
3. Bullet 替换建议 (Bullet swap suggestions) — if a bullet doesn't match any JD requirement, suggest what to replace it with:
"第5条和这个JD关联不大。如果你有 [X] 方面的经验,建议替换成更相关的"
After the action plan, ask the user:
"要不要我按这些建议帮你改?"
If yes → enter Diagnose Mode with the suggested changes as the starting point.
Diagnose Mode (改简历)
Key rule: All diagnosis output MUST be in three-column table format Never output diagnosis as numbered lists or paragraphs.
Step 1: Load References
Before diagnosing, read references/terminology.md to have the keyword translation table and power verbs ready.
Step 2: Diagnose → Output Diagnostic Table
⚠️ MANDATORY OUTPUT FORMAT — The diagnosis MUST be a three-column markdown table. Do NOT use numbered lists, bullet points, or paragraphs for diagnosis. Every single bullet point from the user's resume gets one row in the table. No exceptions.
Exact table format to use:
| 原文 (Original) | 问题 (Problem) | 推荐写法 (Recommended) |
|---|---|---|
| Quote the original bullet or key phrase | Issue code + concrete explanation in Chinese | Complete rewritten bullet in English, paste-ready |
Column rules (follow strictly):
- Column 1 — 原文: Copy the user's exact bullet (or its key phrase if very long).
- Column 2 — 问题: Start with an issue code (弱动词/无量化/职责描述/术语过深/动词重复/信息不足/缺业务价值/弱收尾/废话词/信息过载), then explain WHY in Chinese. Be specific.
Fix only the diagnosed problems (verb, jargon, formatting, quantification). Stay as close to the original as possible — do not rewrite the entire sentence or add information the user didn't provide. If the issue is 缺业务价值, do NOT invent a business outcome in this column — leave the rewrite focused on other fixes and ask the user about business context in Step 4.
If there are 5 bullets, the table has 5 rows. If there are 10 bullets, the table has 10 rows. One row per bullet, no merging, no skipping.
Example (this is exactly what the output should look like):
| 原文 (Original) | 问题 (Problem) | 推荐写法 (Recommended) |
|---|---|---|
| Maintained enterprise data warehouse integrating multiple sources | 弱动词 — "Maintained" 描述日常职责;无量化 — 没有规模数字;缺业务价值 — 没说数仓给谁用、解决了什么业务问题 | Architected an enterprise data warehouse integrating [X]+ sources across [Y] business units, with end-to-end data lineage from ingestion through reporting |
| Built scalable ETL pipelines improving data refresh performance by 40% | 信息不足 — "data refresh performance" 含义模糊,是延迟还是吞吐量?动词重复 — "Built" 开头太平 | Accelerated ETL pipeline throughput by ~40% using [tool], reducing data refresh latency from [X] hours to [Y] minutes |
| Established a Power BI governance framework enforcing RBAC across [X] workspaces and [Y] users, reducing unauthorized data access incidents by ~[Z]% |
Note: the example above flags 缺业务价值 in the 问题 column but does NOT invent business outcomes in 推荐写法. The business outcome will be asked about in Step 4 and added in the final version (Step 5).
Step 3: Summary Row — Common Issues
After the per-bullet table, add a 共性问题 (Common Issues) summary. List 2-4 patterns that appear across multiple bullets, e.g.:
3 bullets start with "Built"
2 bullets have no numbers
- 术语过深: "idempotent upserts", "RFC-based"
Step 4: Discuss with User (in Chinese)
AFTER outputting the table (not instead of it), walk through the findings with the user. The table must appear first, questions second. Never skip the table to go straight to questions.
Ask follow-up questions in two categories:
补数字:
- 这些
[X]你能补吗?大概的数字就行,不用很精确。
补业务价值(if any bullet was flagged as 缺业务价值): Ask specifically about business impact for each flagged bullet. Example questions:
Incorporate the user's answers into the final version in Step 5.
Step 5: Write Final English Version
Once the user confirms direction, produce clean final bullets:
• [Bullet one with **bolding**]
• [Bullet two with **bolding**]
• [Bullet three with **bolding**]
Remind user to fill in any remaining [X] placeholders at the end.
Step 6: Offer Interview Prep
After delivering final bullets, always ask:
"简历定稿了!需要我帮你深挖每条bullet,出面试押题吗?"
If user says yes → enter Interview Prep Mode (see bottom of this file).
Issue Categories (for diagnosing)
When filling in the 问题 column, use these codes for consistency, followed by a concrete explanation:
| Code | Description | What to Look For |
|---|---|---|
Weak or passive verb | "maintained", "supported", "helped with", "assisted" |
No quantification | No numbers, percentages, scale, or timeframe |
Responsibility, not achievement | Describes the role, not what was accomplished |
HR-unfriendly jargon | Terms not in the "Keep" list — check references/terminology.md |
Repeated verb openings | Multiple bullets start the same way |
Missing context | No mention of who benefits or what problem was solved |
| 缺业务价值 | No business outcome | Bullet describes technical work but never says who benefited or what business result it drove — e.g., "built a data warehouse" without saying it enabled faster decision-making or reduced manual effort for a specific team |
Weak ending bullet | Last bullet of a section is filler or lacks impact |
Filler words | "Systematically", "effectively", "proactively" adding no meaning |
Too much in one bullet | One bullet tries to cover 3+ distinct achievements — should be split |
Rewriting Rules
Quantification
- Every bullet should have at least one number
- If the user doesn't remember exact numbers, suggest a reasonable expression (e.g., "~60%", "3+ years", "50M+ records")
- Use
[X]placeholders and remind user to fill them in
Sentence Variety
Never start all bullets the same way. Mix these patterns:
| Pattern | Example Opener |
|---|---|
| Action-first | "Led the design and implementation of..." |
| Result-first | "Cut duplicate records by ~40% — achieved by..." |
| Tool-first | "Using Python and SQL, backfilled..." |
| Scope-first | "Across batch production metrics and inventory data, designed..." |
| Purpose-first | "To support unified data ingestion, built..." |
| Audience-first | "Serving operations and product teams, delivered..." |
| Problem-first | "To address silent failures in batch flows, deployed..." |
Bolding Rules
Bold these (matching the style of strong DE resumes):
- Tech tools:
**Python**,**Airflow**,**AWS** - Quantified results:
**~60%**,**50M+**,**~40%** - Key technical concepts:
**ETL pipelines**,**data warehouse**,**PII**
Do NOT bold every word — only what deserves the reader's eye to stop.
Special Cases
Project bullets (not work experience)
- Lower bar for quantification — projects are supporting evidence
- Focus on tech stack and what was built, one strong number is enough
Backfill / migration bullets
- Always include: tool used, data moved, business reason
- Example: "Migrated and reconciled [X] years of historical [data type] from [source] into [destination] using Python and SQL, enabling [business outcome]; reduced manual effort by ~X%"
Dashboard bullets
- "Delivered a dashboard" alone is weak
- Always add: who it serves, what it replaced, how many users, or what decision it supports
What Strong Looks Like
Engineered robust ETL pipelines using PySpark for Japan's electricity and weather markets, processing 2.5M+ records daily from 200+ raw SFTP, API, and Excel-based sources into 250+ schema-validated PostgreSQL tables.
Why it works: scale is front and center, tech keywords HR recognizes, clear business context, no unexplained jargon.
Interview Prep Mode (押题模式)
Trigger: User says "帮我押题", "准备面试", "深挖简历", "interview prep", or similar. This mode runs AFTER the resume is finalized — it uses the final bullet points as input.
Workflow:
- Load
references/interview-prep.md - Ask user which bullets they want to deep-dive (recommend 3-5 based on which are most likely to be asked about)
- For each selected bullet, output: (a) a Thinking Process story skeleton for the user to fill in, and (b) a scenario-based question table covering HR, technical, system design, and leadership angles
- Mark high-probability questions with ⭐ so user knows what to prioritize
See references/interview-prep.md for full framework, templates, and output format.
