This Skill addresses the pain points for small business owners and finance professionals, such as tedious manual bookkeeping, complex reconciliation, error-prone month-end closing, and missed tax filings. In practice, finance staff often need to cross-check data across multiple spreadsheets. The AI can automatically read local ledger files, perform complex operations like double-entry recording, bank reconciliation, accruals and amortization, depreciation calculations, and generate financial statements and tax filing data.

Usage is straightforward: simply set up local folders like ~/Clawic/data/accountant/ and place your chart of accounts, transaction records, and other files. You can then execute tasks using natural language commands, such as "Help me reconcile the bank statement for this month" or "Close last month's books and generate a profit and loss statement." After each session, the AI automatically writes key decisions to a memory file, eliminating the need for repeated derivation in subsequent sessions.

It is ideal for finance professionals, freelancers, and small-to-medium business owners who handle daily bookkeeping, month-end closing, and tax filing—especially those already managing financial data with local files but seeking to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors with AI.

Before starting, it is recommended to read memory-template.md to understand all writable targets and formats. Note that it only processes local folders declared in configPaths, does not connect to any cloud services, and does not store any credentials. All data remains strictly local, ensuring privacy and security.

Key Features

Unlike cloud-based accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero, this Skill runs entirely locally—data never leaves the machine—and interacts via natural language AI conversation, eliminating manual data entry or the need to learn complex interfaces. It focuses more on automating repetitive bookkeeping logic rather than providing a full ERP system.

Limitations

Requires pre-configuration of local file directory structures such as `~/Clawic/data/accountant/`. It only reads files from folders declared in `configPaths` and is not compatible with external databases or online banking APIs.

FAQ

Does this Skill support multi-currency bookkeeping?

Currently, it relies on the locally configured chart of accounts. To support multi-currency, you need to define currency fields in the chart and annotate them in transaction records. The AI will process according to the chart rules but will not automatically fetch exchange rates.

Is the data secure? Will it be uploaded to the cloud?

Completely secure. All reading and writing occur within the local file system; data never leaves the machine, and no credential information is sent. The AI only reads files from the folders you have declared.
